Climate Justice in Seasons | Concert series
Friends in the Netherlands, check out this series of concerts by Lonneke Van Straalen and the Dutch Brew House. The concerts will include Vivaldi's Four Seasons and two new works by Anne-Maartje Lemereis and my good friend Trevor Grahl. I am really honoured and happy to have written three Japanese form poems for Trevor's wonderfully inspiring piece "Sieze", one for each movement. And here they are:
I. Sprung
We’re but peeling paint
under the indifferent
fingernails of time
Memory’s armchair
-cadences/decadences-
Always electric
Zephyrs for breakfast
Nightingale mash for supper
Violin sorbet
II. Occam
Future-washed figures
Beneath the sliding razor
You can be so grand
You can be monumental
Before the razor blade drops
III. Sirens
At the end they came to me
In the dead of night
All things evaporated
Sea foam, ice cubes, farewell tears,
Omnivorous hopes,
Toxic possibilities –
Fading away until I
Couldn’t tell anymore
What was cloud and what was dream
The concerts will be presented in various venues in Holland, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and I'll be there for a couple of those too!
