Queer approaches to Lena Platonos

Το Σάββατο 1 Δεκεμβρίου στην Εναλλακτική Σκηνή της Λυρικής Σκηνής θα είμαι (μαζί με τα κείμενά μου!) στο αφιέρωμα στη Λένα Πλάτωνος και ελπίζω να σας δω όλους εκεί! Μουσική, κείμενα, περφόρμανς, βίντεο και πολλά άλλα από μια ομάδα σουπερταλαντούχων περφόρμερ! Η Λένα Πλάτωνος έχει υπάρξει ορόσημο για την εγχώρια ΛΟΑΤΚΙ κοινότητα από τη δεκαετία του ‘80 μέχρι σήμερα. Τόσο οι στίχοι της, που εκφράζουν ιδιαίτερες, συχνά μοναχικές υποκειμενικότητες, όσο και η αλλόκοτη θεατρική electro μουσική της, συνεχίζουν να γοητεύουν και να εμπνέουν κουήρ σκηνές και συλλογικότητες ανά τον κόσμο. Σε αυτή την εκδήλωση επιχειρούνται μια σειρά από κουήρ αναγνώσεις στο έργο της Πλάτωνος. Στο πρώτο μέρος, ο μουσικολόγος και θεωρητικός πολιτισμικών σπουδών Νίκος Βούρδουλας επικεντρώνεται στην ηλεκτρονική τραγουδοποιΐα της Πλάτωνος, διερευνώντας τους τρόπους με τους οποίους εκφράζει και συσπειρώνει συναισθηματικά ομάδες ανθρώπων της εγχώριας και διεθνούς ΛΟΑΤΚΙ κοινότητας. Στο δεύτερο μέρος θα παρουσιαστεί ένα βαριετέ με καλλιτέχνες από την εγχώρια μουσική κουήρ σκηνή και ιδιαίτερα από το μουσικό label Φυτίνη. Οι Αντριάνα Μίνου, Λουίζα Δολόξα, Αλέξανδρος Δρόσος, Filtig, Kangela Tromokratisch, Mochi, Space Manifesto, Εύα Ντούρου, Nanah Palm μαζί με μέλη του φωνητικού συνόλου Filippos Glee θα παρουσιάσουν διασκευές που επανερμηνεύουν το έργο της Πλάτωνος σε ηχητικό, λεκτικό και επιτελεστικό επίπεδο. Οι διασκευές θα συνοδεύονται από video προβολές των Αναστασία Διαβαστή και Μαργαρίτα Αθανασίου. I am thrilled to be part of this event dedicated to truly special songwriter Lena Platonos, taking place on Saturday 1st of December at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera. Hope to see you all there! There will be texts (of mine!), singing, performance, videos and lots more by a team of super-talented performers!
Lena Platonos has been seminal for the greek queer community since the 80s. Both her lyrics, which express distinct, often lonely subjectivities, and her peculiar theatrical electronic music, keep on enchanting and inspiring queer music scenes and collectives. The event will venture a series of queer readings of Platonos’s work. In the first part, the musicologist and cultural studies theoretician Nikos Vourdoulas focuses on Platonos’s electronic song-writing, by probing into the ways in which she expresses and emotionally brings together groups of people from the Greek and the international LGBT communities. In the second part, there will be a variety show with artists from the domestic queer music scene and in particular from the Fytini music label. Andriana Minou, Louiza Doloksa, Alexandros Drosos, Filtig, Kangela Tromokratisch, Mochi, Space Manifesto, Eva Dourou, Nanah Palm, together with the vocal ensemble Filippos Glee will present covers that reinterpret Platonos’s work at another sound, lyrics and performance level. They will be accompanied by the video work of Anastasia Diavasti and Margarita Athanasiou. Curated by Fil Ieropoulos The event is a coproduction of the alternative stage of the Greek National Opera and Atopos CVC cultural organization, as part of the TextMe_Lab project and the Athens Municipality-run “Athens 2018 World Book Capital” project.
