Internationally-renowned New York publisher Three Rooms Press will host an evening of contemporary Dada performance and poetry on Sunday, 10 September at Candid Arts Centre in London (3 Torrens Street, London EC1V 1NQ), to celebrate the release of MAINTENANT 17: A Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing and Art. Doors open 19:00; show begins at 19:30. Admission is 10£.

The evening will feature dada performances from a range of performing artists, poets, and musicians including Derek Adams, Mahnaz Badihian, Sam Dodson, Rachel Dixon, Salvatore Esposito, Massimo Fantuzzi, Becky Fawcett, John Goodby, Yvonne Litschel, D. M. Rice, Santa Semeli, Robin Tomens, and Andriana Minou with Coocoolili (featuring Michalis Angelakis, Dominique Chardonnay, Artemis Ignatidou & Stella Parlavantza), as well as a dada overview from MAINTENANT editors Peter Carlaftes and Kat Georges.

At the event, expect the unexpected, including provocative poetry and disruptive performance that centers on the journal’s theme, “Peacefire.” Guests and performers are encouraged to wear costumes in the spirit of Dada, the influential anti-art movement that sprouted during World War I and has been influential in counterculture movements ever since, including the Beat generation, Fluxus, punk, hip hop and more.

Previous Three Rooms Press European Dada Salons have been the stuff of legend, with events during the past decade in London, Brussels, Paris, Bilbao, Bastia, and Florence. Each salon includes performances by local contributors the critically-acclaimed annual contemporary dada journal, Maintenant, with five to fifteen performers per event. Performers are often in outlandish costumes, and offer very imaginative presentations of conceptual artistry, singing, dancing, and sound poetry, among other acts.
